    CPU Port Wiring

    MVME adapters serve the port wiring of MOTOROLA CPUs MVME147, -162, -167, -172, -177, -1600-11, 2600, and -3600. The adapter board MVME-P2 connects to the P2 connector of the CPU. The adapter boards MVME-TR-ETH/SER4 or MVME-TRAUI/BNC mount to either a rear panel or front panel and connect to the MVME-P2 connector via ribbon cable.

    MVME-P2

    The SCSI interface connects to the MVME-P2 via a 50-pole ribbon cable connector. For termination of the bus signals, you can use resistance nets in sockets. A miniature fuse fuses the power supply for external termination nets.

     

    MVNE-O2;s CENTRONICS interface connects via a 26-pole post connector, The AUI signals, which apply directly at the CPU P2 connector, are accessible via a 16-pole post connector. Moreover, VMEbus power supply (+5 V) to P2 can occur via the fast-on connector. Additionally, the MVME-P2 allows connection for the adapter board MVME-TR-AUI/BNC or MVME-TRETH/SER4.

    MVME-TR-ETH/SER4

    This adapter board enables a conversion of the AUI interface to an IEEE802.3 (Cheapernet) interface. The interface is electrically isolated from the VMEbus potential and contains a BNC connector for net connection. Besides the BNC connector, the AUI signals are accessible via a 15-pole DSUB connector. Additionally, the four serial CPU interfaces feed to four 9-pole DSUB connectors.

    MVME-TR-AUI/BNC

    The MVME-ADA-ETH is an AUI to Cheapernet converter that connects through a ribbon cable to e.g. the AUI connector of the adapter MVME-P2 or to another AUI connector and can be equipped with a front panel.

     

    The Cheapernet interface is designed just like the one of the MVME-TR-ETH/SER4 adapter. The AUI signals feed through to a DSUB connector at the front panel.

    Connecting Lines

    Besides the adapter boards, esd offers various connecting cables for connection of the CENTRONICS port, the SCSI interface and the AUI interface. Ribbon cables connect the lines. The transition connectors are equipped with interlockings (AUI, SCSI) or screws (CENTRONICS, serial interfaces).

    Front Panels

    For installation of the adapter boards at the front panel or rear panel of 19" racks, manufactured panels are available. Moreover, esd offers customized front panels, to include further or other connectors at the front panel on demand.

    Adapters for MVME177, -172, -167, -162, -147, -4600, -3600, -2700, -2600

     

    esd electronics, Inc has designed the MVME-adaptor to wire the ports of the MOTOROLA CPUs MVME147, -162, -167, -172, -177, -2700, -2600, -3600 and -4600 by connecting directly to the P2 connector of the CPU (IEEE1101 only) according to the system design with the connectors for 10BaseT, AUI and the four serial interfaces directly accessible at either the rear or front panel depending on that design. In the version MVME-TR2-T, the adapter can be used as a pure AUI / 10/100Base-T converter and needs the P2 adapter MVME-P2 and the ribbon cable MVME-ADAFBK 16 for the connection to P2.

     

    The adaptor board MVME-TR2 enables a conversion of the AUI interface to an IEEE802.3 (Cheapernet) interface as a twisted pair design with the signal lines insulated by transformers and connection through a female RJ45. With the MVME, the AUI signals, which apply directly at the CPU P2 connector, are accessible through a 16- pole post connector and through a 15-pole female DSUB connector in the front panel. The MVME also offer four 9-pole DSUB connectors in the front panel of the adaptor to receive the serial interface feed; however, boards that are 761 I/O-assigned at P2 can only use interfaces 1+2.

     

    The SCSI interface on the MVME is connected with a 50-pole ribbon cable connector. Resistor networks are equipped in sockets for bus termination that can easily be removed without the use of tools. The voltage supply for external termination networks is protected by a miniature fuse. With the MVME, the CENTRONICS interface can be connected through a 26-pole post connector 1:1 to a female DSUB25 with an adaptor cable.

     

    esd electronics offers a manufactured front panel (acc. to IEEE1101) available for installation of the adaptor board at the rear of 19" racks. In addition to the adaptor boards, esd offers various connecting cables for connection of the CENTRONICS port, the SCSI interface and the AUI interface by ribbon cables. The transition connectors are equipped to either interlock (AUI, SCSI) or use screw connections (CENTRONICS, serial interfaces).
