CAN I/O in 19” Plug-In Case
The CAN-Control-I/O is a digital I/O module in a 19” plug-in case. The power supply is 24 V/DC. All
connectors are accessible at the front panel.
CAN Interface
The fully ISO11898 compliant module uses an 80C592 microcontroller to control the inputs and
outputs. The program code is stored in a Flash EPROM and the parameters in an
I²C EEPROM with an optional SRAM available. The coding switch at the front
panel allows setting a default value of the CAN identifier with the default bit
rate set at a jumper field inside the case with bit rates selected between 10
kbit/s and 1 Mbit/s. The CAN bus signals are not opto-isolated from the
microcontroller.
Digital Inputs
Designed for 24 V, the opto-isolated 64 inputs connect via a combicon-style connector. Each 8 inputs
use one GND.
Digital Outputs
The design of the 32 digital outputs allows switching from 24 V to GND with the protection against
over-temperature and short circuit, also allowing generation & sending of an
error message at the CAN bus. The module monitors the supply voltage of the
output drivers by the analog inputs of the 80C592 microcontroller with the
determined value read by CAN.
Software Support
The local software of the module supports the transparent reading of the inputs and the error
status. Additionally, the software offers functions for the configuration of
the module and makes the output setting possible through writing one
identifier.

CAN-Control-I/O
64 Digital Inputs and 32 Digital Outputs
-
Microcontroller 80C592
- CAN interface acc. to ISO 11898, without electrical isolation, bit rate up to 1 Mbit/s
- 32 digital outputs 12V or 24V, load 0.65...1.2A, short circuit and overload protection
- 64 digital inputs 24V, electrically isolated
- Combicon-style connectors
The CAN - Control - I/O is a fully ISO 11898 compliant, digital I/O module designed in a 19” plug-in case with a 24 V/DC power supply, and with all connectors accessible at the front panel. esd electronics uses an 80C592 microcontroller to control the inputs and outputs, and stores the program code in a Flash EPROM with the parameters in an I²C EEPROM, and there is
an optional SRAM available.
The module has a coding switch on the front panel to set the CAN identifier default value. The default bit rate can be set at a jumper field inside the case with the bit rates selected between 10 kBit/s and 1 Mbit/s. The CAN bus signals are not electrically isolated from the microcontroller.
It's 64 inputs are designed to connect with a Combicon-style connector at 24 V with one GND allotted to every 8 electrically isolated inputs.
esd electronics designed all of the CAN - Control - I/O’s 32 digital outputs to switch from 24 V to GND, and has protected them against adverse temperatures and short circuit. The CANbus can generate and send an error message. The supply voltage of the output drivers is monitored by the analog inputs of the 80C592 microcontroller with the determined value read by CAN.
This module’s local software offers functions for module configuration and supports the transparent reading of the inputs and the error status. Setting the outputs is possible by writing only one identifier.
