Linking EtherCAT® and CAN
The CAN-EtherCAT
® module links any EtherCAT
® network to a CAN
network.
The gateway operates as an EtherCAT
® slave with a maximum of 8 Kbytes
input or output data on the EtherCAT
® bus.
Applications
With the CAN gateway you can connect CAN modules with
CANopen (CiA DS 301) or layer-2 (ISO 11898-1) implementation to a real-time
EtherCAT
® network without the gateway limiting the number of CAN nodes. This
module can also be configured as Ethernet switch port using the EoE protocol
(Ethernet-over-EtherCAT).
Physical Interfaces
The CAN high-speed (ISO 11898-2) compatible interface allows
a maximum data-transfer rate of 1 Mbit/s with the 100BASE-TX EtherCAT
® interface
compatible to IEEE 802.3 and running at 100 Mbit/s. Both the EtherCAT
® and the
CAN interfaces are opto-isolated.
